His Truest Love(poem)

I know you are his mistress

His first, his truest love.

Your love for him is boundless

And his love for you, eternal.

He falls into your waters willingly

Clutching life’s breath within him

Just to be in your arms again.

You hold him with your soft embrace

You tell him of your secrets,

Your mysteries, your gifts.

You love him like no other.

I know you are his mistress

His first, his truest love.

And so I come to you,

Humbled in your presence

Scoured by your winds,

Only human, and untested by your great seas

And I vow to you:

I will love him as you wish me to

I will keep him warm at night

I will calm his worried mind

I will wrap my love around him

Keep him safe within my arms

Until he comes back to you

For I know you are his Mistress

His first, his truest love.

Please whisper my name on your winds

And speak of my love when he lies in your embrace

Tell him how I love him

Tell him he is safe with me

Tell him that you love him most,

But that my love is also true.

I will keep him safe from harm,

And I will warm him through the night

So he can come back to you

For I know you are his mistress

His first, his truest love.
